With millions of cosmetic products on the market, it’s vital to the success of your business to make your makeup products stand apart from the competition. By gaining as much exposure as possible for your makeup products, you can get your products in the hands of the consumers without having to pay millions of dollars to models to make TV commercials.

So they try to promote their products in various ways:

Offer Makeovers

Set up a stall at a mall or at department store where you can provide free consultations to customers. Have plenty of products available for purchase. Another option is to have a weekly free makeover contest.

Go to Expos

Attend expos and trade shows to get exposure to your product. Base your marketing around the target audience. For example, if you are going to an expo for high school students planning for prom, hire a couple of models to wear prom dresses, and do their makeup. Include the pictures in a portfolio. You can execute a similar plan if heading to a bridal expo. For a career expo, have a handout about the do’s and don’ts of makeup for interviews, and offer the visitors a free makeup consultations.

Packaging

By placing your product in pretty packages, you can attract more customers to it. Highlight the aspects of your line that make it different from other products; for example, list the different colors that your makeup line consists of on the packaging or the sun protection aspects of the product. Consider packaging some products together in a set to increase sales.

Make Contact with the Industry

The more times a beauty editor, established beauty company or professional in the industry gets her hand on your product, the more likely you are to score a big deal. Send beauty editors gift baskets of your products. Host a media breakfast in which you discuss your product with industry professionals. Discuss your products with boutique owners, and inquire about placing a small supply at their stores to begin.

Use Social Media and the Internet

While many companies can benefit from the use of social media to connect to potential customers, social media is ideal for the makeup industry because of the visual aspect of the products. Make a series of how-to videos and post them to the web. Write a blog about makeup and feature people wearing your products. Post pictures to your other social media accounts. Send a weekly or monthly newsletter to inform customers about new products or discounts.

Deals

People are ecstatic when they think they are getting a good deal. You can offer deals to customers to motivate them to buy, including buy one, get one free deals; buy one, get one half off deals; and a free gift with purchase option.

Workshops

Host workshops in which you educate potential customers about skin care and makeup application. Explain how to dress up a day look to an evening look with a few quick changes. Discuss how a person’s wardrobe and makeup correspond. Demonstrate how makeup products work and proper application techniques by having a model on hand. As an alternative, ask a member of the audience to volunteer for the task.

Giveaways

Send potential customers free samples of your product. Also, host a monthly giveaway for a basket of free cosmetic products that you advertise on your website or social media accounts. Give customers a certain number of entries based on the number of purchases they make.

Marketing Strategies

Price

Low price segment(45 to 200 INR)

Numbers of available products are more in moisturizing, sun care and whitening categories, so intense competition observed in these categories. In anti-acne category only few products are available, so less competition is observed. No company is offering anti-aging products in low price range.

Moderate price segment(200 to 800 INR)

More products are available in sun care and anti-aging categories but not as that of low price segment, so somewhat more competition in this category. In moisturizing, anti-acne and skin whitening categories very few products are available, so less competition in this category.

High end price segment (800-5000 INR)

No product is available in anti-acne category, so less competition in this category. Where as in other categories products are available but not as that of low price segment,so moderate to low competition is seen in this category.

Place

It is distributed in cosmetics shop, shopping mall and drug store.

The place to sell cosmeceutical products should be easily reached by the consumers. The companies should have the good distribution network. The low price and medium price products should be easily available and distributed through mass retail channels, shopping malls and supermarket. Moreover, high-price skin care product should be distributed through luxurious professional stores. It is because the consumers would associate the image of the cosmetic store to quality and safety of the products available.

Change in traditional to western silhouette
•Before 8 years in India women’s generally use to wear fitted blouse and ghagra
(ghagra choli) but as now time is changing, women use to wear dresses instead of
fitted blouse and ghagra.
•The attire which attracted a lot of buyers in world wide is a Gore dress (western
silhoutte).
•We have decided to make a Gore dress into a desi flavour that will increase its
beauty.
•In that we have used indigo block prints which are famous for Rajasthan culture .
•The block prints which we have used in it is Ajrakh, Dabu and Lehariya.
•They are mainly famous textile of Rajasthan.
•People in Rajasthan generally use colorful shades , mirror work and pompoms for
their clothes
•As we have to make a dress we decided to take dark color indigo which looks good
as a western dress.
•And while doing this we haven’t forget about Rajasthan and Indian flair.
•To give the dress a little twist we have added a beautiful colorful pompom corset
that truly represent different colors of colorful Rajasthan.

RESEARCH AND IDEA GENERATION
Idea generation and selection are fundamental activity in innovation. Firstly we find the
process of idea generation, the importance of problem recognizance and many decision in the organizing the effort, then we focus on the different type of information that can be used in that decision. Finally we conclude in emphasizing the idea generation and
selection. So we have done a research work on winter collection and find out some
interesting themes from where we have taken our inspiration. Some of the examples are:
Igloo- It is also known as snow house or snow hut.It is a type of shelter built of snow,
Typically built when the snow can be easily compacted.
X-mas tree- It is a decorated tree usually on evergreen conifer such as spruce, pine or fir or an artificial tree of an similar appearance.
Snowball- It is a spherical object made from snow usually created by scooping snow with
the hands and compacting it into a roughly fist sized ball.
INITIAL CONCEPT
A good design begins with a good design concept. A design initial concept is the idea
behind the design. It is how a person plan on solving the design problem. It’s the
underlying logic, thinking and reasoning for how a person will design that concept will
lead to the choice in color and type. Every design decisions that a person make will fall
back on the concept for direction. The design concept became the frame work of all the
design decisions.
So our design concept is based on winter collection so we have taken snowfall. A snow
refer to forms of ice crystals that precipitate from the atmosphere and undergo changes
of the earth surface and snowfall means a fall of snow specifically the amount of snow
that falls in a single storm.
It is an important part of winter, it attracts person. It is visually appealing and it has a
beautiful soft and soothing texture.

RANGE PLANNING
A range plan is an overview of a collection with all of the design and financial
parameters set out. The plan outlines the specifics of the collection; from how many
styles the person will have, to what fabrics and color ways will be used. It is used
before the person dive into large scale production. This is incredibly useful for a
person to follow as a designer but most importantly it gives potential buyers a clear
understanding of your vision.
Range plans usually include:
•Total number of garments
•Illustrations or flat drawings of every garment
•Proportion of different garments types(top/bottoms/dresses)
•Specific garment styles
•Different fabrics and color ways for each garment
•Cost price per garment
•Selling price per garment
•Order quantities per style
•Sizes
•Manufacturer details

RANGE AND DESIGN SIGN OFF
A range refers to thinks in a number of different materials of same general kind.
Design sign off typically emplies that the design is final and no further revisions are
possible.
Design approval and sign off can be useful milestones for the business. They can
help in keeping the project on track and moving forward, making sure that a person is
happy with the development and the delivery. However they can also be one of the
most challenging elements of the design process.
The development process may contain several sign off points where the person
will be expected to approve changes, before the designer can continue the process.
Having a chance to agree on certain design assumptions or details can result in faster
development and ensure that your project stay in scope and on budget.
DISTRIBUTION TO STORE
Distribution is concerned with getting a product or service to the right people, at the
right time, taking into consideration the need for profit and efficiency. Otherwise
described as “the action of sharing something out among a number of recipients.”
When a customer purchases a product or service, they may have brought it directly
from the business or through a retailer or wholesaler. These ways of purchasing are
known as distribution
channels
•Retailers
•Wholesalers
•Agents
One of the best ways to promote your clothing line is to secure mainstream
distribution through major stores. These stores typically have chains across the nation;
they employ sophisticated marketing techniques to sell their products, and those of
the clothing designers they carry. There is a variety of ways to get noticed by buying
agents in major stores. For best results, design a complete clothing line, produce
samples, and identify a garment manufacturing company prior to attempting to get
your clothing line distributed to major stores.

SALES AND CUSTOMER’S EXPERIENCES
Understanding the customer experience is one of today’s hottest topics and for good
reason. Companies that become truly customer-centric (given that we focus on sales and marketing, we prefer the phrase buyer-centric) tend to outperform their peers on a number of fronts, including faster revenue growth, higher conversion rates, shorter buying cycles, and lower churn. Of course, the first step in becoming a buyer-centric organization is to understand the buying experience. The buyer-responsive sales process is predicated on understanding the buying process. There are a number of techniques you can use to truly incorporate the buyer into the sales process.
•A person should develop a detailed buying process map that shows the key
activities, objectives, and conversions that a buyer engages in as they make a
purchase.
•With a buying map in hand, a person can now overlay your sales process on to the buying process map. For example, a person might decide that your sales qualification phase should overlay with when the buyer is trying to understand
their requirements.
•The sales process should incorporate the key activities that sales will use to engage
the buyer. The idea here is to design these activities to provide the buyer with
what they want when they want it.
